Your Mossberger Knife is made of a very resilient high carbon steel. This steel has special characteristics that are far superior to most all stainless steels. The high polish or power coat finish on your knife not only gives the knife a pleasing aesthetic look, but is fullly functional to prevent rust and corrosion. But, if your knife stays in a harsh, wet environment for an extended period of time, this may allow a small amount of surface corrosion to begin. REMEMBER… a well oiled knife is a happy knife! When using your knife for meat processing, we recommend using a thin coat of vegetable oil. Mild soap and water are preferred to clean your knife, always remember to apply a small amount of oil back to the blade.
You may apply a good quality leather conditioner / cleaner or leather oil to maintain your custom leather sheath that may come with your knife.
